Beginner Guitar (6th-12th Grade)

Ready to make some noise—in the best way possible? At our Beginner Guitar Summer Camp, new musicians pick up a guitar and dive straight into the joy of making music. Campers will learn basic chords, simple strumming patterns, and how to play songs that make them feel like instant rockstars.

With hands‑on guidance, fun group jam sessions, and plenty of “whoa, I can actually play this!” moments, students build confidence one chord at a time. By the end of the week, they’ll be strumming with style, rhythm, and a whole lot of personality.

This camp proves you don’t need experience to rock… just enthusiasm and a guitar ready for adventure.

***Campers are encouraged to bring their guitars but we do have a few available.

*** This camp is located off campus at Memorial United Methodist Church in Thomasville, NC.

 On the last day of camp campers will participate in a showcase to show off what they have learned throughout the week from 5:30-7:00PM. More information will be sent home on the first day of camp. 

Create Wire Jewelry (6th-12th Grade)

Step into the world of shiny spirals, colorful stones, and awesome creativity. Campers will learn the magical art of wire‑wrapped jewelry with local artist Barry from Barry’s Rock‑n‑Jewelry. With Barry’s guidance, campers will explore how to twist, bend, and shape wire into amazing designs.

Everyone will get the materials to create their very own wire‑wrapped ring or a cool pair of earrings—choosing their favorite stones and wire colors to make each piece totally unique. These one‑of‑a‑kind treasures will be bursting with personal style and make perfect gifts… or the perfect keepsake to show off all summer long. It’s hands‑on, imaginative, and full of sparkly fun

Fine Arts (6th-12th Grade)

At our Fine Arts Summer Camp, young creators explore the magic of charcoal, pastels, and expressive mark‑making as they craft pet portraits, still lifes, and sweeping landscapes. Each day invites campers to experiment with value, color, line, shape, and texture—unlocking the secrets that make artwork leap off the page.

Improv (4th-12th Grade)

Ready to turn quick thinking into big laughs? At our Improv Summer Camp, campers jump into a world where imagination rules and “yes, and…” is the name of the game. Through hilarious games, character challenges, and on‑the‑spot storytelling, students learn how to trust their instincts, build scenes with teammates, and turn unexpected ideas into comedy gold.

No scripts. No pressure. Just creativity, confidence, and a whole lot of fun. By the end of the week, campers won’t just be performing—they’ll be fearlessly inventing, reacting, and shining in ways they never expected.

This camp proves that the best moments aren’t planned… they’re improvised.

Aquarist For A Day (8th-12th Grade)

Do you have a fascination with fish? Are you amazed by amphibians? Captivated by corals? Spend a day finding out what it takes to care for these delicate creatures at Davidson-Davie’s Zoo and Aquarium facility. You’ll be a part of our laboratory operations as you help care for the Zoo and Aquarium Science Program’s animal collection on campus. In justone day, we’ll discover hidden features of water with scientific water quality testing, feed everything from the sharks to anemones, provide enrichment through animal painting and even get “elbow deep” to keep the animals healthy. Come get your feet wet as an aquarist for a day!

 

** Campers will need to pack a lunch. Campers will be dropped off in front of the Sinclair building.

Cosmetology ( 4th-7th Grade)

Step into a world of color, creativity, and confidence. At The Total Image Cosmetology Summer Camp, campers learn the hottest trends in the beauty world straight from a licensed cosmetology instructor. From crafting fantasy hairstyles to exploring hair dye techniques and experimenting with fun makeup effects and gel nails, every day is hands‑on and full of imagination.

Our sessions blend beauty skills with uplifting team‑building activities designed to boost self‑esteem and spark positivity. Campers will head home each afternoon feeling inspired, confident, and totally pampered.

 

** Pick up and drop off will be in front of the Sinclair Building.

Fishing 101 (5th-12th Grade)

Hook, Line, and Sinker Summer Camp reels kids into an unforgettable week of outdoor adventure. Campers dive into the basics of fishing and build real angling skills—from mastering different rod‑and‑reel casting techniques to choosing the right bait for the right catch. Along the way, they explore how weather, water conditions, and other environmental factors shape a successful day on the water. By the end of the week, campers will be able to identify common North Carolina fish like seasoned pros. It’s hands‑on, confidence‑boosting, and packed with sunny summer fun.

 

**Campers will be traveling via DDCC bus to local lakes.

Self Defense (5th-9th Grade)

Young participants step into an empowering, high‑energy experience where safety meets confidence. This camp introduces practical self‑defense skills in a fun, supportive setting designed just for youth. Campers learn how to stay aware of their surroundings, communicate assertively, and use beginner‑level physical self‑defense techniques appropriate for their age.

With a strong focus on avoidance, awareness, and de‑escalation, the camp teaches kids how to make safer choices and feel more in control during uncomfortable or potentially risky situations. By the end of the week, campers walk away feeling stronger, more confident, and better prepared to navigate the world with awareness and resilience.
